WOW
These past two weeks have been just good. I am so thankful to say that this is the happiest I’ve been in a very long time. My squad of 50, team of 8, and 1 God have been treating me well.
A few highlights of the past 2 weeks
Hike to Mt Yonah
Squad W drove to the trailhead for a quick hike up (2.5 miles) Mt. Yonah outside Cleveland, GA. With our big packs I decided to take the hike as quickly as I could with our mentor’s son, Max ( 9 years old ). We took a few “ shortcuts” and got to see different views of the mountain before the summit! Once everyone was at the top we set up tents and roasted hotdogs for dinner while watching the sunset. The evenings were filled with laughs , star gazing, and for me, 10 roasted marshmallows. Ending with an amazing stop at Chick-Fil-A breakfast before arriving back at camp!
More worship
The past 2 Friday nights we had revival worship where I danced my heart out and took mourning to dancing (Psalm 30:11-12) very literally!! So much healing takes place when you give the glory to God and let him lay his hands upon you.
Squad campfire
We had a Bonfire at our W squad campsite with lots of laughs , s’mores, stories and love! Some alumni joined us and gave advice they learned from their trips! ( I’m not used to being able to have camp fires like this because of Washington’s heavy fire bans)
Sleepovers and friendships
A new friend of mine Alexina and I had a few sleepovers in my tent with intentions of watching a movie together, but ended up just talking then sleeping. We did get to share a tent on top of Mt. Yonah! My tent neighbor, PV ( Peyton) and I share our nightly “ good night , sleep tights “ and I love it. My team is so enjoyable to be around where we can laugh about funny caterpillars , and also dive deep into Romans.
Prayer
We had a 2 hour session followed by 45 minutes of guided prayer. Prayer has always been a difficult thing to do. Focusing on one thing, pour your heart to God and stay attentive to the idea in mind. But I have seen miracles happen through prayer already. We had the prompt to pray for those in our lives who aren’t following God and feeling His love, joy, and freedom. This exercise brought me to tears. Thinking about how much God has changed my life and so many others, all I could wish for is for all loved ones in my life to feel this joy, unconditional love, and eternal freedom.
Park day
Yesterday we had the chance to go to a nearby park and lake front! I was just beaming ear to ear about how lucky I am that I got to play beach volleyball for 2 hours, take a dip in the lake, and finish the night with ice cream… all with followers of Christ.
Next week
We have one more week on base before we head to Florida for ministry!
